LOAN and RETURN
Loan and Return is a poignant performance piece that explores humanity’s relationship with the Earth’s material resources. Centered on the transformation of processed ceramics back into its raw origins—soil or sand—the performance symbolizes the cyclical nature of extraction and return. The act of returning matter to its origin is always associated with effort and overcoming, a physical manifestation of the struggle inherent in the process. Raw, object, raw. Earth, ceramic, earth. Through this intense, transformative process, the piece invites reflection on the price of human intervention in reshaping our environment. At what cost do we manipulate and transform the materials of the world? “Loan and Return” challenges audiences to consider the ethical implications of our interactions with the Earth’s resources.
