Live radio performance
The project radio.rituals - open sonic lab sees itself as an open platform for improvised radio performances and free sound and text experiments.
As a four-part event series, the project builds on the Radio Rituals radio programme that has been running for two years - broadcast on bauhaus.fm, Radio Lotte Weimar, Weird Fishes Radio Berlin and Sphere FM Leipzig.radio.rituals - open sonic lab gives people interested in sound and text, especially students at Bauhaus University and Weimar University of Music, the chance to try their hand at live sound and text improvisation. The performances are organised and accompanied by Thai Tai Pham and Cosmo Schüppel - two freelance sound artists, currently students at the Bauhaus University in the field of sound ecology and sound studies. The project will be performed by a changing group of sound art students who have come together through past Radio Rituals programmes and are now an established event format in the Weimar cultural landscape.
Four sonic lab sessions are planned between February and June 2024. Each session is a six-hour radio performance (Sundays 18:00-00:00), broadcast on Radio Lotte, Weimar and Radio Tsunami, Chile. For each session, a different renowned sound artist is invited to contribute to the respective session. The invited artists each bring a thematic focus to the programmes.
